Apple has temporarily paused the release of the iPadOS 18 update for iPad Pro M4 models after a significant number of users reported encountering serious problems following the update. These issues range from frozen screens and unresponsive interfaces to complete system failures, leaving some devices unusable.
While acknowledging the issue, Apple has assured users that the problem doesn't affect a large portion of iPads. They have removed the iPadOS 18 update for iPad Pro M4 models from availability while they work on a solution.
"We have temporarily removed the iPadOS 18 update for iPad Pro M4 as we address an issue affecting a small number of devices," a spokesperson for Apple stated. This statement indicates that Apple is aware of the problem and taking steps to resolve it.
Apple Addressing the Issue
Apple is currently working on a fix for those who have already updated their iPad Pro M4 models to iPadOS 18. For users who haven't yet updated, Apple strongly advises them to hold off until a fixed version of the update is released.
The decision to pause the update highlights Apple's commitment to ensuring a smooth and reliable user experience for its products. By addressing the issues quickly and proactively, Apple aims to regain user confidence and prevent further inconvenience.
Affected iPad Models
The iPadOS 18 update was initially available for a wide range of iPad models, including:
- iPad Pro (M4)
- iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later)
- iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later)
- iPad Air (M2)
- iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
- iPad (7th generation and later)
- iPad mini (5th generation and later)
It is important to note that the issue only affects iPad Pro M4 models. Other iPad models that received the iPadOS 18 update are not affected by this problem.
The iPadOS 18 update was released alongside the iOS 18 update earlier this week. A number of iPhone users, including those with the iPhone 16, iPhone 12, iPhone 11, and iPhone X series, have also received the iOS 18 update.
