WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform, continues to evolve, introducing exciting features to enhance user experience. The latest updates bring two highly anticipated social media features, likes and mentions, to WhatsApp Status, allowing for more interactive and engaging communication.

Show Your Appreciation with Likes

Now, you can effortlessly express your appreciation for friends' WhatsApp status updates with a simple tap of the heart icon in the bottom right corner. This action will turn the heart icon green, signifying your like. Importantly, these likes are kept private, visible only to the status owner, ensuring privacy for all users.

Directly Engage with Mentions

The inclusion of mentions adds another layer of interactivity, allowing users to directly address specific individuals in their status updates. Similar to likes, mentions are also private, with only the tagged users able to see the tag, preventing privacy concerns for the status owner. This feature ensures that messages reach the intended audience without compromising privacy.

Even though the tagged users can see the mention, the status owner retains control over who can share their status. This allows for targeted communication while maintaining control over the visibility of their updates.

Gradual Rollout and Global Availability

These new features, likes and mentions, are currently being rolled out gradually, ensuring a smooth implementation. However, rest assured that they will be available globally to all WhatsApp users soon.

With the introduction of these features, WhatsApp further enhances its platform, making it easier for users to interact and connect with those they care about most. The ability to express appreciation through likes and engage directly with individuals through mentions fosters a more dynamic and personalized communication experience within the app.
